JON BURGERMAN PLAYS WITH JEFF KOONS PLAY-DOH SCULPTURE AT KOONS WHITNEY RETROSPECTIVE

This Instagram pic of a tiny little replica of the Koons Play-Doh sculpture housed in plexi, being held next to the Koons 10 foot tall aluminum sculpture ‘Play-Doh’ started it all.

I dug up the New York based artist, Jon Burgerman who was selling these miniature boxes of mixed colored Jeff Koons doppelgangers in front of the Whitney during the Koons retrospective and grabbed him for a quickie interview.

Instead of using the typical watercolors to create his paintings, Baghdad-based artist Othman Toma uses all kinds of delicious, melting treats as his medium. While the chocolate ice cream bars and colorful popsicles begin to melt, Toma scoops up the liquid with his brushes and begins to paint.
